Welcome to Hillside Counselling

Helping you navigate life’s challenges with compassion and understanding.

Why come to counselling?

At Hillside Counselling, I’m here for you. I offer the safety of non-judgemental, confidential support, a chance for you to speak and truly be heard. My counselling space is relaxed, calm and quiet, a place for you to take a moment for yourself.

Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed, are struggling to navigate a challenging time in your life or would like to foster personal growth and resilience. There are many reasons people seek counselling and psychotherapy, you may even just feel like you need to vent to someone who isn’t close to you! Whatever you bring, my person-centred approach will focus on making sure you feel understood, you don’t have to face it alone.

I provide 50 minute face-to-face counselling sessions, based in Hillside, Portlethen. Online appointments are also available, allowing clients from anywhere in the UK to access my services. I offer an initial 30 minute consultation via Teams, free of charge, where you can ask any questions you may have, learn how I work and decide whether we are a good fit for your needs.

I understand the barriers that financial burden can present to accessing therapy, so can discuss a concession rate for those on a low income or who are unwaged. Please get in touch via the contact form or through my social media pages to discuss your options.

About me…

I’m Fiona, a qualified person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist based in Portlethen. I am a registered member of both COSCA and BACP, giving you assurance that my work is regulated and held to the highest ethical standards. I work with individual adult clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, bereavement, separation/divorce, sexuality, relationship issues, identity, burnout, overwhelm and many other challenging aspects of life. I strive to provide a safe, confidential, accessible and inclusive space for clients to talk and process. My practice is LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity friendly, you are welcome and valued for who you are.

I have first hand experience of the joys and challenges that can accompany caring for a loved one with a disability or additional support needs. It can often feel like a lonely and overwhelming place, with very little support for unpaid carers or time to examine your own needs or feelings. If this resonates with you, perhaps Hillside Counselling can support by offering you a space to talk about your experience and receive understanding and empathy.

At Hillside Counselling, you're not just a client, but a cherished part of our journey together. I am grateful for the trust clients put in me, and for what I am privileged to learn from every individual story. Witnessing clients become empowered and finding their path is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. Whatever it is that has brought you to counselling, I will be beside you. I’m here to listen, understand, and help you navigate life's challenges with empathy and unconditional acceptance.
